Leaves from Skycity at 7:30 am

Tour returns to Darwin approximately 5:00 pm

See the best of the Top End’s best on this ultimate Northern Territory day trip.

ITINERARY
Finniss River Crossing

Take the back roads from your Darwin hotel to the Finniss River and beyond. Stretch your legs in this shady riverside stop and boil the billy for a refreshing tea or coffee.

Florence Falls

No visit to Litchfield is complete without seeing Florence Falls from the plateau-top lookout. For the keen there is an opportunity for a refreshing dip in the clean, cool water of Florence Creek.

Blyth Homestead on the Reynolds River Track

The Reynolds River Track and two creek crossings will lead you to heritage-listed Blyth Homestead. Tess's uncle Max Sargent and Aunty Esther grew up here in this tiny, rough-hewn homestead built about 1928. You’ll get a taste of life in the days of working tin mines and cattle, carving out a living in this rugged environment.

Wangi Falls

Visit spectacular Wangi Falls, a popular dry season swimming spot and a special place for Aboriginal women. Cool off with a swim or explore the nearby forest, a seasonal home to a restless colony of flying foxes.

Woolaning Spring

Be exclusive visitors to beautiful Woolaning Spring and Tess's family heritage; the sawmill camp her grandfather built there 60 years ago. In nature's forest dining room, by crystal clear spring waters, you’ll enjoy a sumptuous lunch of local game meats.

Spectacular Litchfield from the air

Take to the skies as your helicopter takes you across the stone country of Litchfield's Tabletop Range. Get a bird's eye view of Litchfield’s spectacular rock formations and waterfalls from the air, flying north-west towards the impossibly convoluted Adelaide River, meandering across its floodplain.

Adelaide River crocodile and birdlife cruise

See saltwater crocodiles and riverine birds in their natural habitat from the safety of a stable boat on the tropical Adelaide River. Be awe-struck as large crocodiles come right up to the boat for a feed, and raptors swoop for theirs. Return to Darwin by air Climb back aboard your helicopter for the return trip to Darwin, seeing the city and its beautiful floodplains and coastline from the air before arriving at SkyCity Hotel, where you can enjoy a complimentary drink watching the sun set over Mindil Beach.

Tropical summer

During our tropical summer, from about December to May, some parts of the Top End are closed by floodwaters. This is a wonderful time for a day trip to the Litchfield area. Accessible waterfalls are in full and dramatic flow, the landscape is lush and vibrant, and clear, croc-free natural pools invite refreshing swims.

Luxury four-wheel drive vehicle

You'll see this rugged and beautiful country in comfort and safety from a modern, luxury four-wheel drive LandCruiser 200 with state-of-the-art communications.
