Northern Territory Aboriginal Guided Tours
Learn the real story.
Owner and guide, Tess Atie, offers generations of knowledge about the Top End and outback on these unique indigenous tours.
One of the most rewarding things to do around Darwin.
Local Aboriginal guide
Tess Atie is a local Aboriginal woman who grew up south-west of Darwin, in and around where Litchfield National Park now lies. As a highly experienced former park ranger and wildlife park guide, her expert knowledge of the natural and cultural history of the area results from both traditional and mainstream learning.
Tess is training other local Aboriginal guides to provide them with opportunities for employment in the tourism industry.
Aboriginal guided luxury day trips from Darwin
Your indigenous guide will take you on a day trip from Darwin, along roads less travelled, to visit the Territory Wildlife Park and Litchfield National Park, returning to Darwin in time for sunset and nightlife. You'll go off the beaten track and experience:
- a close up look at animals rarely seen in the wild
- exclusive access to Tess's grandfather's sawmill camp ruins at beautiful Woolaning Spring
- a gourmet lunch with tastes of bush tucker in nature's dining room
- views and a chance to swim at spectacular Wangi Falls
- breathtaking views of Litchfield's stone country at Tolmer Falls
- glimpses of harsh outback living at heritage-listed Blyth Homestead.
Along the way your guide will fascinate you with stories of earlier times, and offer insights into Aboriginal culture, society and history, connection with country, and use of plants and animals.
